End-to-end deployment for the UNpkl Gateway system: hardware and mesh setup, enterprise subscription, cloud provisioning, and live monitoring from the UNpkl app.

Tip

Complete subscription enrollment (Step 3) before scanning devices (Step 4). The cloud assigns each gateway to your account and nearest regional endpoint only after both are in place.

Overview

This guide walks through the full enterprise workflow—from acquiring gateways and access points to enrolling a subscription, linking hardware to your account, and viewing live data in the dashboard.

The five steps below follow the order most customers use:

  1. Hardware acquisition — purchase and rack UNpkl gateways.
  2. Mesh infrastructure — install APs and secure mesh backhaul.
  3. Subscription enrollment — create an account and choose a plan.
  4. Cloud provisioning — scan each controller and link it to your subscription.
  5. Live monitoring — confirm the gateway is streaming metrics to the cloud.

Step 1: Hardware acquisition

Customers purchase UNpkl Gateways in bulk for high-capacity enterprise environments.

Hardware specs:

  • Chipset — mt7988-based platforms built for throughput and policy enforcement at the edge.
  • WAN connectivity — fiber optic, Ethernet, and 5G options depending on site requirements.
  • Controller role — every gateway ships pre-configured during manufacturing to act as the central network controller for its site.

Install controllers where they have reliable upstream WAN access and a clear path to mesh APs on your LAN or PoE plant.

Step 2: Mesh infrastructure and AP installation

Expand coverage with AP103 access points (or compatible UNpkl mesh agents) so Wi‑Fi reaches the full floor plan.

Connectivity — connect APs to a smart PoE switch so power and data ride on the same cable run.

Mesh security — each unit joins the deployment as a mesh agent. Every mesh link uses a unique SAE secret for the backhaul so neighbor networks cannot join your mesh accidentally.

Step 3: Enterprise subscription enrollment

Before provisioning hardware, activate a UNpkl service plan tied to your organization.

  1. Choose a pricing plan that matches your gateway count and support tier.
  2. Sign up using the UNpkl iOS app, Android app, or web client.
  3. Verify your email when prompted so account recovery and billing notices reach the right inbox.
  4. Select and confirm your plan — billing and subscription management stay in the same apps going forward.

You can return to the app or web client later to update payment details or change plans.

Step 4: Cloud provisioning and QR scanning

Associate each controller with your account using Search in the UNpkl app.

  1. Open Search (from the Live Data header or your app’s search entry point).
  2. Enter the command Scan device (or tap the scan suggestion when shown).
  3. Scan the QR code included in each controller package when the camera opens.
  4. Wait for confirmation — the gateway links to your email and active subscription.

Cloud endpoint — after a successful scan, the cloud assigns the device to the nearest geographical data endpoint for your region (for example https://ukeast-01.unpkl.io:44433). The gateway uses that endpoint for ongoing sync; you do not need to pick the URL manually.

Repeat the scan step for every controller in the deployment. Mesh agents discovered by an already-provisioned controller appear in topology without a separate QR scan.

Step 5: Live monitoring and data reporting

Once provisioning finishes, the Wi‑Fi controller enters its monitoring phase.

Automated sync — the gateway periodically checks the cloud for its assigned endpoint and credentials.

Live stream — when the endpoint is reachable, the controller sends live data, network metrics, and device health to your UNpkl dashboard.

In the mobile app:

  • Open Live Data for per-device traffic and topology.
  • Open Maps for geolocated flows (cloud deployments show server-side geolocation).
  • Open Charts for trends over time.

If the stream does not appear within a few minutes, confirm WAN connectivity on the gateway, that subscription status is active, and that provisioning completed for that unit. See Live data and Troubleshooting for more help.
